" She can come on down here and say all that to my face, then. I've got my cell-phone back on now."
Phyllis Montana-Leblanc provided one of the few tension relieving moments in Spike Lee's excellent, but harrowing, documentary, When The Levees Broke. I think about it a lot since, for one side of the electorate, it seems to boil down to which side has the most worthless goldbricks in it.(Hint: If you got born to the "wrong" sorts of parents, in a body that's the "wrong shape" or color, it's probably you.) Like both candidates, I also sweated over a plan this weekend. Unlike them, it won't be scored by the CBO. Larry From The Block will not call the genial-looking state lady a "liah" for suggesting one can clean a bathroom floor in two minutes.(Too bad.) These kinds of fights only have implications for the poor people like me who are in them, although reading Ezra Klein has taught me that getting money in the hands of people without is the one sure way of pumping up an anemic economy.
