This will prove interesting. Disney has a huge family friendly non-controversial message about love, kindness, death (coco), and the importance of family, and finding yourself despite bigotry and ignorance (Luca (a favorite)).
Disney has also added to its media output some shows that are going to (or have) really crank(ed) people up. Disney feature films have been of other cultures so that might be hard enough for some.
There is criticism of Disney and they've gotten things wrong - so what? At least they try. I doubt I ever had a musical performance that went perfectly - or maybe a few out of decades of performing. Often all I hear is people pointing out a mistake and ignoring the entire great performance.

And yet, they approach topics that can't be ignored, or shouldn't be ignored and I never became a parent to know how to approach these topics.
I am sure there are two series that have gotten people wound up that I watch. I love the living art work of animation. When the voice talent, writing, music, artwork, style all come together, its just a huge pleasure to watch.
One series is the 'the owl house' which has completed after 3 seasons (and that's new - I notice cartoons have kids coming of age, and then finally come of age. We can ask ourselves how old is Bart Simpson now? Maggie? I burned out after maybe 5-7 seasons)
In the Owl house I identify with Edaline (the owl lady) because she has to keep medicated less she turns into the owl beast - which is uncontrollable and angry (in my case anxiety and depression). She later learns to accept it as part of her. There are plot lines which revolve around her trials which includes resolving things with her sister and her parents who she hurt or pushed away. If the Edaline character existed, I'd ask her out in a heartbeat (or Lilly). So that message helped me. In my 60s. It ain’t just fer kids folks.
The protagonist falls in love with another girl. That in of itself - and it is a sweet relationship of young people - nothing more than a kiss exchanged between them - is almost unbelievable.
I can't see the point in casting hate upon love. Life is hard enough.
Another is the Ghost and Molly Magee. The most recent episode I watched had a segment on Molly's friend Libby (Jewish and a nebbish) who at a sleep over has her first period. To me that is insanely progressive, and yet, I wonder how the topic is bungled or ignored, and what it must feel like to undergo such a personal transformation and then compare yourself to others. Boys go through changes, but not like that. And I could write a dissertation on how religion, etc deals with the topic. (i.e. being unclean in Jewish orthodoxy/bible — well, its the 21st century now so...)
Since the puritanical parts of society go ape-excrement over any kind of sexuality, well, I wonder how ape they'll go here. Molly hasn't reached that point and as all kids when we try to identify ourselves comparing ourselves to others, she feels like she is left behind. However, her friends, are supportive and the episode was about as well written as it could be.
Then we end up with those who are trying to put the genie back into the bottle. That wish to return to the garden of eden where we didn't know we were naked. There is some preconceived notions of what America was, who its people were/are, and want to deny people's existence. The whole concept of critical race theory is to say - what happened? how did it affect us and others? are we going to do something about it?
Bringing up that topic, and diversity equity inclusion - wow - what a threat - how could we ever consider someone who looks like us to have similar or dissimilar beliefs? What a threat to us! Better pass laws against it. It makes me sick.
This is why I keep going on about 1930s germany's descent into madness - or at least those who had power and wanted it at any cost. Those self-same would deny history, biology, medicine, science, the stewardship of our planet (what do we leave the next generation - a giant crap pile? these are YOUR kids — pro-life? well how about pro-planet for a prolife??!) and the right of the pursuit of happiness that we guarantee ourselves, and maybe…. for others...as long as it doesn't make us 'uncomfortable'.
It is as if we are geared to see ugliness and need only someone to strike that match so we go there. Charismatic leaders, or those who can speak to those fears to drive us, they have those matches out. If one sees the other having some success, then they figure why not take it up a notch? Then you get the Qanon lunatics. Not like you can wind up people to storm the capital...wait...that happened didn’t it… and people who want that support deny it happened! They deny it with actual video footage! An attack on democracy!! WOW! Burn it all down!
Well, to gain support of those who wish to push a company into a box because of its political, progressive, or even health educational messages for personal gain, or their own hate and ignorance, may have gone too far.
Now we'll see how it plays out when the political is used against the powerful. You guys wanted to support the power of money in politics and laws in our capitalist society. Helped you out with your donations. Now you can face off against those who don’t agree with you that have the same rights and access to the law.
I hope the cranks work George Soros into the conversation. That would seal the deal of madness since Soros is about open societies. Those against Soros tell us we shouldn't have open societies so Soros is bad.
Those cranks don't want that scrutiny, that might expose what they do in power, and they need a devil from which to protect us to and an issue to rally behind so we will 'ignore that man behind the curtain'.
Soros is also a dog whistle for antisemitism. Back to the old — JEWS CONTROL THE WORLD! DEEP STATE! Yeah, sure. I am controlling the world so well that I don’t feel a need to make this entry….
So what do we choose? What is? Freedom? I have enough built in anxiety that I don’t need some bullcrap thrown at me as to add to my anxiety.
Do we swing the pendulum back into some halcyon 'leave it to beaver' where chewing gum and running in the hallways was bad. I grew up with both. The world has changed. We know too much. We can't go back. Had abortions back then folks. Black folks were fine as long as they remembered their place. (or any other ‘not us’) And people used drugs. etc etc etc
So here we go. Constitution, government, education, acceptance, tolerance, equity inclusion, looking at history, what will it be? How will the courts be used? We already saw what it did to Fox news and Tucker Carlson telling the big lie. And that was from a company with far less resources and popularity. Poor turds to be born here in the United States. Better for them that they were in power in North Korea or Russia….
It should prove interesting. Now Disney, using the very constitution that the cranks wail on about and vow to uphold and protect, and the rule of law, will have their day in court. Is the pendulum from 2016 swinging back?
Or maybe like Carlson and Fox, we just get — the ‘stupid incompetent inept ignorant godless liberals’ used ‘dirty tricks’ in court to win. So if the liberals are so stupid and incompetent — how is it that they won? Are you then more stupid? Maybe opening up your mind will be better? Knowledge is power? Understanding dispels hate and ignorance?
Maybe it goes further — is this any different than redistricting and adding restrictive voting laws? Lock the ‘not us’ out? Why should we feel uncomfortable?

You may pick a fight with Micky, but...who will be Micky’s champion?
